Nashville Photographer – Wednesdays with Laura

With Halloween just around the corner, we hope everyone has picked out the perfect pumpkin and costume. If not, there are plenty of upcoming family-fun fall events this weekend, so I’m sure you’ll find inspiration! And, be sure to check out  Nashville Parent’s Fall Fun Guide for more listings.

Friday, October 16

The Grassmere Zoo is hosting Ghouls at Grassmere, a Halloween-themed celebration for kids ages 3 to 12. There will be trick-or-treating, visits to the Monster lab, a haunted hay ride, and of course, a Monster Mash Dance Party!

Saturday, October 17

During the day, Leiper’s Fork Village is having a Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival with live music, arts and crafts, and of course, delicious chili!

From 5:30 to 9:00 pm, Hautings at the Hermitage will feature haunted tours of the house, classic Halloween films, pumpkin decorating and more!

Halloween also indicates that the holiday shopping season is fast-approaching.  Thanks to Nashvillest, we are in-the-know about Contribute 2009, a campaign that encourages people to support local businesses. By spending $50 at your local business, you can help bring more liveliness to your community. According to the website: “The goal is to inspire 100,000 people to spend an extra $50 at locally owned small businesses on or after October 12, 2009. That’s a $5 million economic infusion that can create a ripple effect in communities across the nation.”

Although I visit these places on a regular basis, I plan to visit my neighborhood businesses on the Scentsy Shopping Days, October 26 and November 9. As well, you can take a pledge and encourage others to do the same! Thanks!
