Lifestyle Photographer, Nashville TN Adrian Hitt Photography

Adrian is excited about the travel schedule, as she loves to explore new places and find unique backgrounds and textures for dog, family, and children portraits. There is a always a bit of pre-travel research and I personally enjoy these Design Sponge City Guides which are usually crafted by people who currently live or have lived in the featured city (there is a Nashville guide if you’re interested in finding out what is highlighted!) As well, it is always important to learn from the locals about where to stay, dine, visit and we’d love to hear your comments about the cities Adrian will visit. So, if there are any destinations that stand out in your mind (especially if they are dog-friendly!), please share in the comment section. Thanks!

Dog Wisdom - Photographer Nashville, TN

The more time I spend with Benny, the more I feel as though he is human … or at least exhibits human traits! And from talking to several of you, I know I’m not alone. And I’m not so sure if Benny realizes that he is a dog either. I found this quote to be quite fitting!

Pet Photography - Golden Retriever in the Snow

I couldn’t resist but to share more from this dog snow session! I absolutely love photographing in the snow. The blanket of snow acts as one huge reflector and tends to bring out the kid in all of us. Enjoy a few more favorites from my time with Lady, a beautiful Golden Retriever.

Children’s Photographer Nashville, TN - To be a kid again

Here are two brothers that I photographed in the fall that I haven’t yet blogged. Oh, to have blue skies again! Their session was great. I love being around kids. They remind me to look at the world and my life with fresh, unprejudiced eyes. To take time to swing, slide and just run around my yard. To throw the ball more with my dog, Benny. To step out from behind the computer and do things that energize me and fill my soul with life. To be fully alive. To be a kid again!

There is no set path … just follow your heart. - Unknown

St. Valentine’s Day - Wednesdays with Laura

Who is Saint Valentine? I, for one, looked to wikipedia for an answer and learned that the name is derived from valens (worthy) and that there was actually a Saint Valentine that was buried on February 14. Most people probably already knew that information, but if you have any other information to share, please do.

For me, Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to get crafty! I love to make cards out of the various paper scraps that litter my desk. My grandmother has always sent me a Valentine’s Day card (usually Charlie Brown-themed because that was my grandfather’s name) and it is just so pleasant to receive a card even if you don’t entirely subscribe to the holiday.

If you are looking for a great chocolate gift, check out Olive & Sinclair’s special Valentine’s Cinnamon and Chili Chocolate. If you don’t get to that in time, they are also selling chocolate bars with a special Valentine wrapper. I found some at the Turnip Truck in East Nashville and I think they are also available at Crema and The Green Wagon. If you decide to visit The Green Wagon (the Sylvan Park store is having a huge sale) check out the Grow-A-Note Valentine’s Day cards - an adorable card with a packet of seeds!

Olive & Sinclair Chocolate, Valentine's Day

As we all know, chocolate is not for dogs. But, Pattern and Paw has a line of Valentine’s Day collars that are handcrafted right here in Nashville. And, you could also bake your dog’s favorite biscuit in the shape of heart. Go crazy!

If you are looking for a festive run this weekend, check out the Cupids Chase. On Saturday head over to Shelby Bottoms Greenway to join others (in Nashville and throughout the nation) who are running with their hearts! This national 5k run is raising funds for Community Options, Inc. (COI), a nonprofit organization that develops housing and employment support for people with developmental disabilities. You can register online or the morning of the race.

Enjoy the weekend. Stay warm!

The Honest Kitchen - Made Out of Love

There is a new dog cookbook that just hit the shelves and we love it! The Honest Kitchen cares about your dog’s health as indicated in the name of the company. Lucy Postins, founder and president, only uses ingredients that are honest (to you and your dog) to create natural, minimally-processed foods. This month, The Honest Kitchen published a book titled Made out of Love, a collection of 65 recipes for meals and treats that your dog will love. The book also includes a chapter on medicinal meals highlighting ingredients that can be used for various ailments.

Here is a sample recipe for a dog birthday cake that Adrian is going to keep on hand for Benny’s birthday:

You can purchase the book at See Spot Eat, Nashville’s first storefront dog bakery that uses all natural and healthy ingredients in their delicious dog treats. It is definitely worth a visit, especially for your dog! Or, you can buy it from The Honest Kitchen online store along with some other treats.

Pet Photography - Wheaten Terrier

At the end of 2009 I had a couple of dog photography sessions in New York City. Here is more from my time with Rhimsky, a Wheaten Terrier. His personality reminded me so much of Benny’s - so I was instantly in love!

During our session we headed to the Brooklyn Bridge. Come to find out dogs aren’t allowed in the park right below the bridge, so I got to experience being yelled at by an unpleasant New Yorker. :( (Don’t worry, New York I still love you.) As a result, I wasn’t able to get the shot I first envisioned, but we were able to walk a ways and still capture part of the beautiful Manhattan skyline.

We stumbled across this abandoned structure in Brooklyn on our way out - love how simple it is.

Anyone have any New York stories/experiences to share? I’d love to hear them - feel free to leave them in the comments!

  • Hannah Maple said: Corey and I want a wheaten SO SO bad!! It's basically a Poppy...just bigger. Would be so much fun to have two curly-qued pups to tote around. (04.13.10 @ 12:33 pm)
