Have you always wanted to have your dog photographed by Adrian Hitt but for some reason haven’t? Well, here is your chance. We’re looking for the perfect dog (maybe yours!) for a shoot Adrian plans on executing this Friday. If chosen, you must be available during the day on Friday in the Nashville area. The best part, for your willingness, the session fee will be waived. Here is what we’re looking for:

• A couple in their 20’s-30’s with 1-2 dogs
(Dogs can be any breed, mix, age or size)

• Flexible schedule and willing to sign a model release.

• Tell us about your dog(s). What kind of personality? Energy level? Trained?

• In your email, include a photo of your dog and yourselves.

Meet Roxy and Oliver! They are both about 2 years old and are looking for their new homes! I photographed them this past weekend and they are two incredible bundles of love. Both are extremely good natured and love being around other dogs. So playful! They’re medium-sized dogs weighing in around 20-30 pounds. Roxy has completed her dog training and Oliver is heading to his 3-week training this week. They are both spayed/neutered, vaccinated and have seen the vet. If you or a friend are looking for a good-natured dog, give these pups a home. Email us if you’re interested and we’ll put you in touch with their fosters. Thanks to Kelly Tipler for pulling these guys off the streets and caring for them!

As many of you may know, Nashville Paw is a wonderful resource for pet owners and dog lovers in Nashville and throughout Tennessee. This bimonthly publication keeps you up to date on the latest pet-related news, resources, and events. Most importantly, Nashville Paw is dedicated to the humane treatment of all animals and they actively support animal rescue, adoption and spay/neuter efforts. Over the last year, Adrian has photographed several covers for the magazine and she is always inspired by the Nashville Paw team who are always so passionate about their work.

Although the magazine is complimentary, we want to encourage everyone to subscribe. One year (six issues) is only $24.00 and it is delivered to your door! The current issue is still available on newsstands, but as Adrian and I are experiencing, you definitely have to get to it quick — it is quite a popular item!

We are glad to announce that we have a winner of the New Year Giveaway! In 2010, Sherri’s resolution for 2010 is to walk her dogs more, which I’m sure many of us can add to our lists. According to this New York Times article, a dog is your best choice for a walking partner - most reliable and never showing signs of discouragement. So, put Fido on a leash and head outside!

Occasionally, I’ll get interest in my photographing someone’s cats. This was my first complete cat session, but I really enjoyed it! Ito and Nora are the cats of the extremely gifted painter, Arthur Kirkby. He had me photograph them as a surprise Christmas gift for his partner. I loved photographing in his home and getting to know these two little loves. Photographing cats is different than photographing dogs, but I was surprised at their numerous similarities. I plan on writing another post about Arthur’s great work, but for now enjoy these of his beautiful kitties.

You may remember this Boston Terrier? I’m back with more of a peek into their dog session! Wilson is quite the comedic dog. Every time I am around him, he shows off a new trick (like walking himself - leash and all) or talks to me. I love it. Vocal dogs are nothing short of hysterical. He’s perfect for Chris and Adrienne and I’m so glad they were up for being Wilson’s props for this shoot!

Jaxie was an absolute ball. If you’ve been around dogs much, you know how much they enjoy having their tummies rubbed. Well, Jaxie wins the award for the dog who loves these the most! Amanda and I couldn’t do much without her rolling over and begging for a belly rub. Hysterical. The session went great and for the record was shot in 25 degree weather. I love shooting through all of the seasons and winter always offer a cooler color of light. Beautiful. All of that to say, don’t worry about the temperature dictating when you can book a photography session! We book year-round.
