Benny Day – Dog Photographer Nashville, TN

A couple of weekends ago we celebrated Benny Day. What is Benny Day, you ask? It’s the anniversary of when we adopted Benny and he bettered our lives in ways we never thought possible. It’s always a fun day of celebration and this year was no exception! We decided to spend it in the outdoors and go canoeing. That day was one of the best we’ve had with him. So thankful he came into our lives three years ago. Benny gives canoeing two paws up! (Sorry, couldn’t resist 😉 ) Have a great weekend everyone!

UPDATE: As you may already know, Rex in the City was rescheduled for yet again for next Tuesday, September 29 from 6 to 9 pm. It is scheduled to be held outside, but if it rains (let’s hope not!) the event will be moved indoors to the far left foyer near the parking garage.

Events for Dog Lovers!

Tomorrow evening, Thursday September 17, Nashville Paw and Loews Vanderbilt Hotel are hosting the second “Rex in the City” event–a Meet and Greet for Single Dog Lovers. The dog-friendly events are held at the Loews Vanderbilt Outdoor Patio from 6 to 9 pm and a portion of the ticket sales benefit the Agape Animal Rescue. Let’s hope that the rain goes away! If it doesn’t, fortunately the rain date is set for next Thursday the 24th.

For all of the non-single dog lovers, this Saturday is Nashville’s annual Pooch Plunge. Hosted by Nashville Public Television (NPT), this is a fun-filled community/family/dog event with swimming, picnics, games, and contests. From 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, families and dogs will be able to plunge into the Nashville Shores pools and lake (the lake is designated for dogs only). Tickets are $20 for the whole family and proceeds benefit Nashville Public Television. Spend the day relaxing with your dog and family in the sun–and in the water! Click here for the event flyer.

If you are looking for a dog to adopt, this Saturday is a great day to find one! From 10 am to 2 pm at Sally Beaman Park, Emmylou Harris and Bonaparte’s Retreat are hosting an adoption event. As well, Lenox Village is hosting the South Nash Dash, a 5k race, block party, and adoption event. The race has an early start at 8 am but the fun continues until 1 pm!

Have a great weekend!

Spaniels – Dog Photographer Nashville, TN

Champ and Soldier are the pups of two great boys (that I will return with soon!). They are Cocker Spaniel and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mixes – absolutely adorable! Champ and Soldier have very different personalities, except that they both didn’t quite know what to think of me when I first arrived. Of course after lots of pets and attention, they realized they didn’t mind having me around after all!:)Enjoy these dog brothers.

Champ welcomes me to play in his front yard.

Dogs live the life, right?

Happy Fall

Now that Labor Day has come and gone, you’ve probably noticed the influx of college students, more school buses, and the slow (and very important) school driving zones throughout Nashville. Unfortunately, back to school (and work) means that your dog(s) might be experiencing a bit of separation anxiety. It may take a while for your dog to adapt to the new “lonely” environment at home, but there are definitely ways to help them through the process. A recent Woof Report has several helpful tips for reducing your dog’s anxieties and helping them cope with the sudden absence of people during the day.

As I mentioned in last week’s blog, there are many wonderful fall events for families in the upcoming months. Fall is also a great time to get your family together for the holiday card. The soft light and bold colors create an ideal outdoor backdrop and the cooler weather is much more bearable than the summer temperatures. As you might guess, for these reasons Adrian absolutely loves having sessions in the fall. And, as it is already mid-September, this is the time to get your family or dog session scheduled. Check out some of Adrian’s favorite fall photos-I guarantee these will inspire you-and let us know if you have any questions. We hope to feature you on the blog soon!:)

Fall Events!

Cooler temperatures and colorful leaves means that fall is near. With this new season comes a plethora of new events and activities. Flipping through this month’s issue of Nashville Parent, we noticed a great deal of exciting events for children. Nashville Children’s Theatre has a strong line-up for the fall/winter season including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Sept. 22-Oct. 11), Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (Oct. 27-Jan.3), and The Diary of Anne Frank (Jan. 19-Feb. 7). If you haven’t been to this theatre, it is a neat building originally built in 1960 and renovated in 2007, and it sits on a hill just south of downtown, allowing for a great view of the city. Go get your tickets now!

200x200-wicked

Today is the opening date of Wicked at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC). Through September 20, Nashvilleans can enjoy this musical that explores the “untold story of the witches of Oz.” Winner of 20 major awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, Wicked is not a performance to miss! And, I was psyched to see that Curious George is coming to TPAC for a limited time on October 22. Tickets for both performances are available here.

This Friday, Cheekwood is opening it’s annual outdoor Scarecrows exhibit, featuring sixty-five varieties of scarecrows along the garden path, one of which is shown above. See if you can find them all!

And finally, tomorrow, Thursday September 3 from 4 to 7 pm, one of our favorite clients, Elizabeth Broyhill, is hosting a “Cocktails & Nibbles” event at Monkee’s, her shoe boutique located in the Hill Center in Green Hills. Be sure to check it out this great shoe sale!
