Nashville Dog Photographer – Dogs to Adopt – Bonaparte’s Retreat

In yesterday’s post I shared photographs from the cover shoot with Emmylou Harris and the dogs of Bonaparte’s Retreat. As mentioned, all of those dogs are seeking adoption into their forever home. I wanted to share more about them and highlight this ever important work that Emmylou and Bonaparte’s are engaged in.

Did you know that just in the first two months of this year, Nashville Metro Animal Control had to euthanize 949 dogs? That boggles my mind and leaves me with a heavy heart. That’s only one facility in one city. Fortunately, rescues like Bonaparte’s take in the dogs that are on “death row” at Metro. And they are committed to those dogs. They seek to find new homes with loving families. But, they can only take in so many dogs at a time. Once a dog is adopted, that frees up a space for another to join the team at Bonaparte’s Retreat. Let me introduce you to those needing homes:

Recognize this cutie? Suki’s the star of Nashville Paw’s cover this month. She is full of so much personality!

Suki loves the camera and I must say that the camera loves her! Delilah is on the right and is such a hoot to be around. She won’t let you get away until a belly rub has been given.

Preacher Henry has the most soulful disposition. Every time I’m with him, I feel as though he can see right to my heart. Scooter is next and is probably my favorite. I know you’re not supposed to have favorites, but how can you not fall in love with that goofy, irresistibly sweet face?

Dinah is a six month old Labrador puppy full of life! Someone I just want to cuddle right up with. Gus is a gorgeous Australian Shepherd/Cattle Dog who is a bit shy at first, but such a smart boy!

If you are interested in any of these beautiful pups (or know someone who might be!), contact Kate at Bonaparte’s Retreat. She’s a delight and would be so happy to talk to you about an adoption. Thanks for reading!

Commercial Dog Photographer – Emmylou Harris and Bonoparte’s Retreat

I am very excited to kick off June with this post! A couple of weeks ago I had the great honor of photographing Country Music Hall-of-Famer, Emmylou Harris with her adoptable dogs from Bonaparte’s Retreats. Bonaparte’s was founded in memory of Emmylou’s beloved dog, Bonaparte, to rescue dogs whose time had expired at Metro Animal Control. By rescuing these dogs, they not only save the lives of numerous dogs but are committed to finding them loving, forever homes. The team at Bonaparte’s is incredibly compassionate and Heather, the editor of Nashville Paw Magazine, and I had such a great time with them and the adoptable pups. I just feel so fortunate to get to work with those who lead such inspiring lives and everyone at Bonaparte’s Retreat and Nashville Paw do just that. If you are looking to add a furry companion to your family, please contact Kate at Bonaparte’s. All of these dogs are looking for their family.

Nashville Paw hit the stands today. Be sure to drop by your favorite pet shop and pick up a copy! On the right is another favorite of mine. He’s Lil’ Henry and is such a sweet guy.

Oh My GOD! I’m SOOO glad you have a picture of Lil Henry on here!!! I have a “history” with him!!! I was fortunate to speak with Kate about him at the Metro Animal Control event this year. He will always have a special place in my heart! I LOVE that dog and I hope he find the BEST family ever. I was ecstatic when I found out that he had gone to Bonaparte’s Retreat!! Oh–how I would love to be able to do this kind of work with my life!

Amy - June 12, 2009 - 7:55 pm

I have always loved EmmyLou Harris, as she was one of my Dad’s favorite singers, something he passed along to me. Then to find out a couple of years ago how much she does to help dogs here in middle TN, just solidified my admiration. Great pictures for a great cause!

[…] or book store. Filled with lots of holiday tips, heartwarming stories and of course the story about Emmylou Harris and Bonaparte’s […]

Dog Photographer – Boston Terrier Family

I posted a portrait of Jada the Boston Terrier last week and wanted to be sure to share her gorgeous family with you! Jada has been with Cherie 12 years and Caleb joined them 4 years ago. We had absolutely splendid weather on the day of their dog session and hit some great parts of Nashville. I love being able to shoot in a client’s home and then venture out to other locations. Jada was quite the character and as you’ll see Caleb and Cherie are quite in love with her and each other. Enjoy these!
