THE SMELLS OF SPRING – DOG PHOTOGRAPHY NASHVILLE, TN

A dog has one aim in life … to bestow his heart. – J. R. ACKERLEY

Just a little dog wisdom for your Friday and a reminder that Spring is on its way! Isn’t this a great reminder to slow down and soak in life? I was going through photo archives of Benny this week and stumbled across this gem. I love that he is actually smelling the flower. Sad thing – I had never seen this photo before this week. My personal work tends to get put away in a file labeled “edit later” and as you can imagine, later rarely arrives. I’m changing that this year.

Have a restful weekend and be sure to return on Monday for a very special announcement!

Will Your Dog be the Next Cover Dog for Nashville Lifestyles?

On Saturday March 20, Nashville Lifestyles is hosting their 2nd annual Cover Dog Competition at Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art. Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and ages are welcome to enter for a chance to be featured on the cover of the May issue. Visit the website to download the guidelines and enter your dog now! Be sure to drop by and see us at the event.

Nashville Paw is also hosting a few contests that will brighten your dog’s day. Complete an online survey for a chance to win a Posh Pet Bed from Madison Avenue Mutts. Or, become a Facebook fan of Nashville Paw (how easy it that!) and you could win a Bark Om tee shirt for your dog.

And, finally, here is something we’re quite excited about around here! On April 30 the United States Postal Service is releasing a book of stamps with photos of 10 homeless dogs and cats to raise awareness about adopting animals. All of these animals have been adopted, but there are millions more looking for homes. Visit your local animal rescue today to find out more information.

Adorable Adoptable Dogs – Photographer Nashville, TN

Looking for a friend?

A month ago, we posted a blog about Roxy and Oliver, two sweet dogs who were rescued by a friend. Fortunately, Roxy was adopted, but Oliver – who recently finished a training program – is still looking for a new home. He’s playful, sweet and well-trained. In the meantime, he is going to a temporary foster home in Nolensville, but we hope that someone out there is searching for a most-friendly companion.

As some of you may know, Benny was adopted from a shelter in Columbia, TN. Last week, Adrian visited the rescue to deliver 40 pounds of dog food for all the comments on this blog entry (thank you everyone!) and she was smitten by Pebbles, this charming puppy who is also available for adoption. Pebbles is a three month old boxer-mix and is part of a litter, so there are a few puppies available.

If you would like more information or are interested in adopting Oliver or Pebbles, post a comment and we’ll get back to you soon. And, please pass the information along if you know a family who might be interested. Thanks!

Benefit Concert for Haiti

In other news, on Saturday, February 27, there is a rockin’ benefit concert at The Ryman Auditorium to raise money for children in Haiti. Big Kenny is hosting the Nashville event (there is also a concert in Los Angeles) which includes performances by Alison Krauss and Union Station, Jerry Douglas, Jars of Clay, Mat Kearney, Brandon Heath, Dave Barnes and Matt Wertz. Tickets range from $25 t0 $75 and proceeds go to Compassion International, an organization that is working to provide food, clean water, clothing, medical supplies, and shelter to 15,000 families in Haiti. The concerts, sponsored by Gaylord Entertainment Company, will be streamed live at HelpHaiti.com, so if you can’t attend, you can always make a donation online. Otherwise, if you don’t already have plans, purchase your tickets at The Ryman.

Until the end of this week, for every session booked in February (not necessarily photographed) we will be donating $50 to IFAW to aid in their efforts to help the animals in Haiti.

Have a good afternoon!

Pug and Border Collie – Dog Photography

What’s better for your Friday than looking at a bug-eyed pug?:)Anytime I’m around pugs, I can’t help but laugh. All of their snorting, quirky expressions, funny noises and how they try to ferociously outrun you with their tiny little legs. Too funny. Meet Maggie. Don’t you just love her wrinkles?

And who doesn’t love a Border Collie? Did you know it’s a common believe that Border Collies are the smartest breed? Smart yes, but also funny dogs to watch. They feel this natural instinct to herd other dogs around them – have you ever noticed this while you’re at the dog park? When this happens, my Benny likes to outrun or trick them.:)Anyway, meet Maggie’s brother Bruce. Super sweetheart and he’s great with his Doga. Here he is showing off his downward-facing dog. And one more of miss Maggie just to make you smile.

Have a great weekend!
