New Studio Manager

I feel so lucky to be writing this blog to you today as the new Studio Manger here at Adrian Hitt Photography. This is a great job – I come to work and hang out with Benny. I have a boss who is just as passionate about animals and animal rescue as I am, and I get to share a little piece of your relationships with your dogs as Adrian captures them and creates art.

Since we are very family oriented around here, I thought I would introduce myself and share a little with you for today’s blog.

I love life, but there are a few things in life that I just love a whole lot: laughing, live music, animals, my family, and Bob Seger (yes… that’s right!). I am grateful to have a life filled with big heaping doses of all these amazing pieces that make me who I am. I moved to Nashville after graduating from Full Sail University with degrees in Show Production &  Touring and Music Business. My heart is deeply rooted in animal rescue and I can tell you that nothing makes me happier than a smiling dog. I figure life is all about doing what you love, so I have decided to combine my two greatest passions of music and animals into my life goal of producing concerts to benefit animal welfare organizations. Since moving to Nashville I have been inching my way towards that dream through internships and plenty of freelance work!

I would not be able to live my life without my very best buddies: my two dogs, Jeffery and Ittey as well as my very awesome orange cat, Banjo. These three are all rescues from different states I have lived in and it is undeniable that we are meant to be together. I invite you to join in the game of guessing what breeds Ittey and Jeff Jeff are.:) Oh Ittey and those ears!

So this is me. I look forward to working with all of you and stay on the lookout for my blogs about what’s going on in the dog world – coming to you every Wednesday.

Take care and give your pets a hug for me!

Cassie is the studio manager for Adrian Hitt Photography. She keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes and frequents the blog often with her tips on what’s going on in the dog world. In addition to her work here, Cassie is involved in the local music scene, volunteers with animal rescues and enjoys being outside with her pups. She lives in Nashville and is the proud parent of Jeffery, Ittey and Banjo – two rescue dogs and one awesome orange cat!

Take care

Cats and Dogs on Hot Tin Roofs

Cats and dog on hot tin roofs…

DO NOT do well at all. You may have seen this story today? Every summer I treat someone’s beloved pet for heat stroke. And as unbelievable as it is, people still leave their pets in closed up cars in the summer heat.  Please do not do this – Your pet could die! Leaving the window cracked does not help. Keep in mind this is one of the hottest summers we’ve seen.

Know this isn’t the only cause of heat prostration. If your pet is left outside make, sure there is plenty of fresh water and SHADE. If you have a breed that has exceptional problems with the heat (especially dogs with “flat faces” such as Bulldogs, Pekingese, Boston Terriers, etc. and “cold weather breeds” such as Huskies, Chows, Malamutes) keep them inside or at least provide a wading pool as a place to cool off. Extreme exercise such as running should be avoided during the heat of the day. If your pet does become sick due to the heat, you should hose him down with cold water (if you can do that within a few minutes), then take him to your animal hospital immediately. High body temperatures for even relatively short periods of time leads to profound shock, brain damage, and death.

Remember, just because you think you can handle the heat outside, don’t assume that your pet can! Stay cool and hold out for fall.

Dr. Grif Haber is a fifth generation Nashvillian. Dashing he parents’ hopes that he would become a “real doctor,” he earned his veterinary degree at Purdue University in 1972 and established Murphy Road Animal Hospital P.C. in 1977. With a heart for rescue, he founded Love at First Sight! Puppy and Kitten Adoption Center in 1995 that has since placed thousands of abandoned puppies and kittens into loving homes.

PeaMutt Butter Cheerio Balls

This is a treat we sometimes carry here at See Spot Eat. We tend to keep it in stock around the holidays, but it’s popular with our own pups year round! (Maybe your dog will give you a high five as well if you make it!:)) This makes small pieces of treats which are great to use for training.

Ingredients

2 c whole wheat flour
4 c Cheerios cereal
1 c natural or organic creamy peanut butter
1/4 c nonfat dry milk powder
3 eggs
1 tbsp molasses
1/4 c warm water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Put peanut butter in a large glass bowl and put in microwave oven for a minute or so until softened. Mix in all the other ingredients until the dough is fairly crumbly and stiff.

Use your hands to spread the dough onto a large greased cookie sheet. If need be, you can put grease or flour on your hands to keep them from getting sticky. Spread in pan 1/2 thick or less – NO THICKER!

Bake for 10 minutes. Remove the pan and flip the dough – pieces at a time. Return to oven for five more minutes. Remove from oven and break any large pieces in to smaller, bite-sized pieces.

Enjoy!

Wheaten Terrier

For me, summer brings the itch to travel. To be outside and soak in the beauty of open spaces, waterfalls, crashing waves and mountain tops. This photo of Winston, a Wheaten Terrier puppy, makes those desires even stronger! I love how it portrays him out on an adventure. He served as our dog model for a recent photographer consultation I had and was such a great sport. Also, we have just added new travel dates for the end of summer. If you live in Los Angeles, Chicago or New York City and are interested in me photographing your dog(s), be sure to contact us!
